Giants of New York sign a large-framed Pro Bowl receiver.

Some predicted going into the 2024 NFL Draft that the New York Giants will select one of the best quarterback prospects available to compete with Daniel Jones for the starting job. However, the Giants made the decision to choose LSU’s Malik Nabers with the sixth overall choice in order to fill their biggest need.

Nabers provides the Giants’ receiving corps with exceptional make-you-miss skills and an electrifying playmaker who can run every route on the tree with ease. Nabers has a far higher ceiling than other Giants receivers, despite the fact that some may have comparable qualities and even skill levels.

The Giants have just updated their depth chart with a different kind of receiver.

The Giants have signed former Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson to a one-year contract in free agency, according Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

The financial details of the deal are unknown, but Robinson probably didn’t earn much guaranteed money—if any—given that he’s joining a strong group of receivers vying to be the second, third, and fourth receivers on the Giants’ depth chart.

Nevertheless, Robinson adds another formidable target to the Giants’ roster, joining tight ends Daniel Bellinger and Darren Waller at 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds. However, wideouts Isaiah Hodgins, Miles Boykin, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, and Chase Cota—all of whom are ranked as tall as 6-foot-2—are his true rivals.

Robinson is thirty years old, and his finest seasons are behind him. He hasn’t had a season with 1,000 yards since 2020. Heck, since 2021, he hasn’t surpassed 410 yards. The Giants are interested to know, though, if Robinson’s lack of output is a result of a deteriorating skill level or of playing for erratic teams like the 2023 Steelers. For the Giants, it’s worth taking a chance at what is probably a veteran minimum or something similar.
