After the Temple pass rusher was not chosen in the 2010 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints signed Junior Galette as a free agent. Galette was chosen for the Saints’ 53-man regular season roster in 2010 as a result of his high-energy play, which won him over as a preseason favorite. In the team’s last preseason game, Galette recorded two sacks and blocked a punt.

Galette established himself in the starting lineup over the following few years and became a standout pass rusher for the Saints.

Galette inked a three-year contract worth up to $9 million dollars during the 2013 season. Under new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, Galette settled in as the New Orleans Saints’ everyday outside linebacker and had a career season, recording a team-high 12 sacks.

Galette agreed to a $41.5 million, four-year contract extension on September 3, 2014. Playing all 16 games for the Saints in 2014, he was chosen by his teammates to be one of the defensive team captains. He finished the season with 45 total tackles, 10 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles. Galette was formally let go from the squad on July 24, 2015.

Galette inked a one-year deal with the Washington Redskins on July 31, 2015. It was revealed a week before the season opener that he had torn his left Achilles tendon and would be out for the entire 2015 campaign after training camp.

On March 15, 2016, Galette signed a one-year contract worth up to $4 million for the 2016 season after recovering from a ruptured left Achilles. Tragically, the former star of the New Orleans Saints tore his right Achilles tendon, forcing him to miss the entire 2016 campaign. Galette underwent further rehabilitation and agreed to play for the veterans minimum in 2017 by signing a new contract with Washington. As a sub-rusher who played in all 16 games, Galette performed better than the minimum contract, recording three sacks and ranking third in the NFL in quarterback pressure rate.

Galette re-signed with the Redskins on a one-year contract on February 1, 2017. Galette did not show up at all on Washington’s injury list in 2017. Washington rescinded their offer to Galette following the 2017 season, in which he had three sacks, because to issues regarding a salary dispute. \

Galette went on to become well-known for his $300 million lawsuit against the NFL for racial discrimination and blacklisting.
