Sad News: Just In Auburn Tigers Head Coach Just Confirm The Sudden Departure Of Record Breaking Superstar Player.

Wesley Steiner, a former Auburn linebacker, signs with Washington State.

Former Auburn linebacker Wesley Steiner has committed to and signed with Washington State, the program announced Friday night, after he allegedly entered the transfer portal at the end of April.

Steiner attended Auburn for four seasons, starting as a freshman in autumn 2020 after being a former four-star recruit. From 2020 to 2023, he recorded 86 career tackles, 46 of which came in 2022.

In 2023, he played fewer games and produced less than he did in the previous season, and Auburn kept Austin Keys and Eugene Asante as their starting linebackers. Along with Dorian Mausi, a linebacker from Duke who transferred, Auburn is also welcoming a number of freshmen, including four-star recruit Demarcus Riddick.

Steiner is still eligible for one more year.

After the PAC-12 broke apart, Washington State is one of the castoffs joining the Mountain West Conference this autumn. UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Washington all joined the Big Ten. Utah, Colorado, Arizona State, and Arizona are going to the Big 12. Cal and Stanford are headed to the ACC. The other team eliminated from consideration for major conferences, Oregon State, is entering the West Coast Conference.
