The Braves offense is still struggling, but lately the pitching has kept the team afloat. Austin Riley is expected back on Friday, and Sean Murphy is getting close to returning, so that should help. However, the ball has made hitting home runs more harder so far this season, and the Braves have been incredibly unlucky on balls they have hit well. Both bad luck and the ball have played a major role in impeding this Atlanta attack. Even if the team is still on track to win a lot of games and has obvious talent that is playing better than they are, it would still be wonderful to start scoring runs every night.

For far too long, the team has been depending too much on spectacular pitching, strong defense, and timely scoring; it would be nice to see them return to their core competencies. Still, it is encouraging to see them manage to win games somewhat regularly in spite of these difficulties. Draft season, and fake draft season are drawing near. In Keith Law’s most recent mock draft, Atlanta selected a right-handed prep arm from Louisiana with their first round pick. Next week, Sean Murphy will start his final rehab assignment. Murphy has been out of the game since the first series of the season due to an oblique injury.
