Just In: Former Tennessee Volunteers Football transfer from Tennessee makes the All-Transfer Team.

Tennessee football transfer lands on All-Transfer Team.

Tennessee football coach Josh Heupel had to use the portal in order to bolster his team’s depth for the 2024 campaign. The Vols added a few future starters and playmakers to the roster by doing a little more than that.

The best players in the nation, who transferred to a new program during the winter or spring transfer portal windows, comprised 247 Sports’ All-Transfer Team. There is a minimum of one player at every position who, according to 247, is the greatest portal player in each position coming into the 2024 campaign.

Gerald Mincey, a former offensive tackle for Tennessee, moved to Kentucky after the 2023 season and used the transfer portal, therefore the Vols had to use the portal to recruit a replacement. In January, the Vols secured the commitment of four-star transfer Lance Heard, a former LSU lineman.

As one of the two offensive tackles on 247’s All-Transfer Team, Heard proved to be one of the best linemen in the portal this cycle. Cayden Green, the new tackle for Missouri, was also on the list.

He was soon rewarded with a position on the Baton Rouge Tigers’ roster. In 195 snaps, he did not allow a single sack during his participation in 12 games. With three years of eligibility remaining, Lance could lead the offense as a starter for the Vols this season.

If Tennessee hopes to qualify for the expanded College Football Playoff this season, redshirt freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava will need a strong offensive line in front of him. The Vols will enter the 2024 season with one of the greatest front fives in the conference thanks to Heard’s arrival to the offensive line.
