Three Tennessee football players and Josh Heupel are included on the 2025 College Hall of Fame ballot.
Thanks to his up-tempo attack, Josh Heupel has transformed Tennessee football into one of the most entertaining and thrilling teams in the nation. Over the last three seasons, Tennessee has won 27 games because to his offensive strategy, which is the highest wins in the same period since Tennessee won 28 games from 2002 to 2005.
A few years had passed since Heupel’s playing career with the Oklahoma Sooners ended when the Vols made their run. In his two seasons with the Sooners (1999 and 2000), Heupel passed for 50 touchdowns and 6,852 yards. With a 136.4 quarterback rating and a 63.2 completion percentage, he concluded his career.
In addition, he was a nominee for the 2000 Heisman Trophy and won the 2000 Walter Camp Player of the Year, 2000 Consensus All-America, 2000 Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and 2000 AP Player of the Year Award.
In summary, he had a respectable senior season as a quarterback. Consequently, the National Football Foundation stated on Monday that he will be eligible to vote for the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025 as a player.
Three former Tennessee football players, Willie Gault, John Henderson, and Larry Seivers, will be joining Heupel. While Gault and Seivers had already appeared on the ballot, Henderson will join Heupel in 2025 in making his first appearance.
After becoming All-Americans, all four players had prosperous football careers. Three VFLs and Tennessee’s current head coach might become immortalized in the Hall of Fame if all goes according to plan.
