The mechanic posted the following update on his Facebook page earlier this week along with the above photo: “I’m acting like I’m on vacation in Broad Green, Liverpool, wearing shorts and a Calippo!”

“We have been at Aintree since the evening of the crash, and we have only been here for two days.”

I’ve had a number of operations, but the two most important ones included fitting cages on both legs. Since my legs can now support weight, I’ve stood up a few times in a frame and moved a short distance. When I’m lying down or doing anything that doesn’t involve 45 degrees, I can remove my back brace, which makes life so much easier at night!

“My lungs’ two drains have been I have been out for almost a week, and my breathing feels normal again. I am feeling really wonderful, and a big part of that is because of all of my family and friends, who are always there for me.

“Thank you so much for all of the extra positive powers; the cards, messages, and well wishes have all been amazing!”

Redmond was eager to thank his family for their support as well as the medical professionals who attended to him from the time of the tragedy until his stay on the major trauma unit at Aintree and with the limb reconstruction team at Broad Green.

“I also wanted to extend a big THANK YOU to the critical care personnel, traveling marshals, and fans what attended my incident since I wouldn’t be here right now without your advice.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organizers of the TT event, the ACU, Day-One Trauma, TTRA, and ARA for your prompt assistance in enabling my family to join me in Liverpool.

“TT 2024 was still a success for me even after the crash; I set a new personal best of 122.7 mph in practice and learned a ton about the track for the next time. We’ll figure out ideal lap times, but they’ll be good based on the data we looked at.”Given how long it will take to grow back the missing leg bone, TT 25 might be challenging, but we’ll be pushing ourselves to stay in shape while remaining steady and secure.
