Road closed after tragic incident in Nuneaton

A main road in Nuneaton was closed for almost three hours after a collision between a cyclist and a car. Police and paramedics responded to 999 calls to report the collision on Manor Park Road, close to the junction with Midland Road.

Police closed off a section of the road while medics tended to a man who had been riding a pushbike. Warwickshire Police has confirmed he was aged in his 60s.

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) say that he was treated at the scene for injuries not believed to be life-threatening. He was then taken to hospital.

“We were called at 7.29am on Saturday 25  October to reports of an RTC involving a car and a cyclist on Manor Court Road, Nuneaton,” a WMAS spokesperson said “An ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. The cyclist, a man, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene before being conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further care.”

A Warwickshire Police spokesperson confirmed that the stretch of road was closed at just before 8.40am and would re-opened at 01.25pm.
