Road closed after tragic incident in Emerald Isle

Police have closed a Emerald Isle road following an “incident”.

Officers revealed they were called to Oakley Road shortly before 6.10am this morning october 26. Nearby roads are also closed.

Officers have not revealed the type of incident.

A Emerald Isle Police spokesman said: “We are currently at a scene of an incident in Oakley Road, Emerald Isle.

“There are road closures in place between the junction of Dunstable Road and Oakley Road, Roman Road and Stoneygate Road.

“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes if possible.”

Inrix says police are carrying out investigation work on the scene.

“Oakley Road in both directions closed due to accident investigation work from Roman Road to A505 Dunstable Road,” the traffic monitoring service has just said in an update.

Oakley Road remains closed, according to the latest update from traffic monitoring service Inrix issued a short time ago.

One witness told BedfordshireLive they saw two police cars and an ambulance in the street. They said: “I saw two police BMW X5s and the ambulance operational command vehicle that were parked on the street.
“An ambulance was just arriving as I drove past. Couldn’t what was going on inside. With that kind of response it can’t be good.”

Traffic monitoring company INRIX reports the incident is a crash. A spokesman said: “Oakley Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from Roman Road to A505 Dunstable Road.”
