A11 police : Road closed after tragic incident today in Suffolk

The A11 is closed following a ‘police incident’ near the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk border in the early hours of Thursday (Nov 21). The road is shut to traffic at the Red Lodge junction.

The incident and closure were first reported at around 12.15am. Delays are building as a result.

A National Highways spokesperson advised drivers to factor extra time into their journey. They said: “The A11 in Suffolk is now closed both directions only within the B1085 (Red Lodge) junction. Traffic is being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at the junction.

“Please allow extra journey if travelling in the area overnight. There are no delays in the area.”

A National Highways spokesperson said:

The A11 in Suffolk is closed southbound between the A1065 (Fiveways, Barton Mills) and the B1085 near Red Lodge and northbound within the Red Lodge junction due to a Suffolk Police led incident. The northbound carriageway is also closed within the Red Lodge junction. Due to the nature of the incident, the road is expected to be closed for some time. National Highways contractors will also be attending to assist with traffic management. 2
