At 22 years old, Lagrange has been scorching radar guns, baffling hitters, and climbing prospect rankings aggressively this season. Pitching for the High-A Hudson Valley Renegades, he has a 4.10 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts in only 41.2 innings. His fastball hits triple digits, and his slider is notorious among opponents — a true “wipeout” pitch.

This spring, Lagrange impressed at MLB’s Spring Breakout event, pitching four innings against Orioles prospects. He allowed just two runs (one earned), gave up two hits, no walks, and struck out two, reaching 100 mph multiple times on the radar gun.

“This was a huge chance for me,” Lagrange said through an interpreter. “It was a way to prove to myself and others that I’m a good pitcher who can throw strikes.”

The excitement around him has only increased. In his May 28 start against the Wilmington Blue Rocks, he struck out eight over 6.2 innings, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk. That marked the seventh time in eight starts this season he walked two batters or fewer, a major improvement from last year when he averaged nearly one walk per inning.

“This marks the biggest leap in his career so far,” Nolan Rabine of Pinstripe Alley wrote, “and if he keeps this up, Lagrange will be one of the Yankees’ top prospects.”
