JUSTIN: Disaster Strikes the Yankees AGAIN — Two More Key Players Go Down!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez injured his left thumb during a stolen base attempt Sunday night and was taken out of New York’s 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Meanwhile, closer Luke Weaver was unavailable due to hamstring tightness.

Domínguez drew a walk in the fifth inning and slid headfirst into second base on a successful steal. He later scored on a one-out single by DJ LeMahieu but was replaced by a pinch hitter in the sixth inning.

“He couldn’t really swing,” said Yankees manager Aaron Boone. “It was serious enough that we had to pull him.”

The 22-year-old rookie is scheduled for further evaluation Monday in New York.

Boone had originally intended to use Weaver in the ninth inning, with the Yankees holding a 7-3 lead, but that plan quickly changed.

“He got through warmups, but when he went to stretch, he felt something in the middle of his hamstring, so we had to adjust on the fly,” Boone explained. “We’re hopeful it’s nothing too serious.”

Reliever Tim Hill stepped in and retired the side in order to close out the game, helping New York avoid its first series sweep of the season.
