BREAKING: The Giants May Have Found Their Next WR1 — And He Wasn’t Even Drafted

The New York Giants held another round of Organized Team Activities (OTAs) on June 10, and one of the standout storylines was an unexpected quarterback-receiver duo making noise on the field.

Team reporter John Schmeelk noted that third-string quarterback Jameis Winston and undrafted rookie wideout Beaux Collins were one of the most dynamic pairs at practice.

“Winston’s first completion to Collins came with a lower arm angle, almost like a shortstop slinging the ball sidearm on a crossing route in perfect stride,” Schmeelk described. The duo later connected on two deep throws — one down the right sideline and another on a flag route — both perfectly placed over Collins’ shoulder without him needing to slow down.

Later in the session, Collins was back in the spotlight again — this time catching a crossing pass from fourth-string quarterback Tommy DeVito. Schmeelk noted, however, that the play might not have gotten off cleanly with defensive pressure from Chauncey Gholston closing in.

Beaux Collins Leading Strong Group of UDFA WRs

After not drafting a wide receiver, the Giants brought in a sizeable group of undrafted rookies at the position. Among them, 6-foot-3 Beaux Collins — who finished his college career at Notre Dame — stood out as one of the top names.

Dane Brugler of The Athletic described Collins pre-draft as a fluid, athletic receiver capable of shifting gears mid-route and tracking deep passes well. However, issues with consistency and dropped passes held him back. Across three seasons at Clemson, Collins totaled over 1,000 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns but also had 13 drops. In his final college season at Notre Dame, he added 490 yards and 3 touchdowns — along with 7 more drops.

Despite those concerns, Collins has made a strong impression throughout OTAs and looks like a serious candidate to make the Giants’ training camp roster.

Other undrafted wideouts have also flashed: Antwane “Juice” Wells and Jordan Bly both caught touchdown passes from rookie QB Jaxson Dart on June 9. Wells also made a big play with DeVito the following day, while Dalen Cambre has delivered a highlight catch in each OTA session so far. Still, no UDFA receiver has been as consistently impressive as Collins.

Wilson & Hyatt Developing Into a Dangerous Duo

Schmeelk also highlighted another major connection during the June 10 practice: starting quarterback Russell Wilson and second-year wideout Jalin Hyatt. Their chemistry continues to grow, with Wilson hitting Hyatt for multiple big plays.

Their first highlight came on a classic Wilson deep ball, where Hyatt burned his defender and leapt to make a catch over the middle. The second came on a beautifully executed back-shoulder throw along the right sideline — Hyatt turned at the last second, secured the ball, and got both feet in-bounds.

Hyatt has had a standout spring and looks poised to take a leap heading into the 2025 season. If he delivers, the Giants could be looking at a strong receiver corps featuring him alongside Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’Dale Robinson — especially with Wilson’s deep-passing strength back in full effect.
