LSU football fans received disappointing recruiting news late Sunday night. According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, Lamar Brown has canceled his upcoming visit to LSU, just after wrapping up a trip to Texas A&M.

Brown, a standout lineman from Baton Rouge’s University High, is considered the top prospect in Louisiana by all major recruiting outlets. ESPN even ranks him as the No. 1 overall recruit in the nation. Although he was initially projected as an offensive lineman, Brown has recently stated a preference to play defense in college, leading most recruiting services to now list him as an athlete due to his high-level impact on both sides of the ball.

Brown choosing to leave Louisiana would be a significant blow to LSU’s 2026 recruiting class, especially after already losing five-star safety Blaine Bradford to Ohio State. While LSU’s class currently sits at No. 2 nationally per On3, landing and retaining elite in-state talent like Brown is essential if the Tigers hope to claim the top spot.

Texas A&M is emerging as a serious contender for Brown, and losing him to a fellow SEC program would be especially tough for LSU fans to swallow.
