The New York Giants have struggled with offensive line play for years, but signs of improvement emerged last season — thanks in part to the stabilization of the right tackle position. Veteran lineman Jermaine Eluemunor, signed last offseason to a two-year deal, brought much-needed consistency to the role after years of turnover and subpar performances.

Now entering the final year of his contract, Eluemunor has positioned himself as a key part of the offense and a potential candidate for a contract extension.

The Giants landed Eluemunor on a team-friendly two-year, $14 million deal — a bargain for a starting-quality tackle at just $7 million annually. At 30 years old, he’s likely earned himself a raise.

In 2024, Eluemunor started 15 games — nine at right tackle and six at left tackle due to an injury to left tackle Andrew Thomas. Although his preparation was focused on the right side, Eluemunor handled the position switch well. He ended the year with a 63.2 Pro Football Focus grade, allowing 29 pressures and four sacks over 579 pass-blocking snaps, along with a 56.9 run-blocking grade. His play was solid, though a bit uneven while filling in on the left.

With Thomas healthy again, Eluemunor is expected to return to right tackle full-time in 2025 — a move that should help him find more consistency and maximize his impact. Given his importance to the line and the offense as a whole, the Giants would be wise to pursue an extension sooner rather than later. Waiting could result in a higher price tag if Eluemunor puts together another strong season.

Right tackles of his caliber don’t come cheap, and his value could increase further with the Giants expected to take a step forward offensively in 2025, especially with Russell Wilson under center.

Locking Eluemunor into a new deal now would not only secure a key piece of the line but also create $3.8 million in cap space for 2025 — giving the front office more flexibility. As the season approaches, the Giants should look to strike a deal to keep their starting right tackle in place beyond this year.
