According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Pittsburgh Pirates are expected to trade Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and the Yankees may be interested. Heyman notes that New York had shown interest in Kiner-Falefa during the 2024 season as well.

Now 30, Kiner-Falefa could offer valuable infield depth for the Yankees. So far this season, he’s made 62 appearances at shortstop and one at third base. In 2024, he played extensively at second, third, and shortstop, and even spent time in left and center field for New York in 2023. With his defensive versatility and familiarity with the team, he’d be a low-cost option to bolster the roster—especially with only a portion of his contract remaining.
