Five-Star WR Tristen Keys Still Eyeing Options Despite LSU Commitment

Hattiesburg (Miss.) five-star wide receiver Tristen Keys, the No. 1 wideout in the 2026 recruiting class, remains one of the most heavily recruited players in the country as he prepares for his senior season.

Keys gave a verbal commitment to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers back in March, but that hasn’t slowed his recruitment. Over the past few months, the elite receiver has visited several top programs, including official trips to Miami, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and LSU. He also had plans to visit Alabama in June but backed out just a day before the trip.

With his visits now wrapped up, Keys will spend the NCAA’s current dead period evaluating his options alongside his inner circle.

Last season, the 6-foot-3, 185-pound pass-catcher helped lead Hattiesburg High to a 13-1 record, tallying 58 catches for 1,275 yards and 14 touchdowns — a breakout year that solidified his spot as the nation’s top receiver.

Though he’s been courted by the biggest names in college football, LSU still holds his verbal pledge. The Tigers remain all-in on keeping Keys locked in, especially with comfort, opportunity, and NIL considerations playing key roles in his final decision.

That said, Keys has made it clear his focus is on long-term development — not just short-term financial gain.

“When it comes to money and development, I’m choosing development first,” Keys said. “We’re chasing that big money — the NFL. So if I’m producing with 700 [thousand], that’s better than seven figures without growth. I want to be ready for the next level fast.”

He added, “Picking development over money is just smart business. If you make plays, the opportunities will come.”

For now, LSU remains in the driver’s seat — but Keys is still weighing his options as his senior year approaches.
