Brian Daboll’s Job on the Line? Giants’ Season Hinges on Jaxson Dart’s Breakout!

The New York Giants have endured years of struggles, dating back to the twilight of Eli Manning’s career. Although Manning delivered two iconic Super Bowl victories—both against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots—the team’s golden era faded as his performance declined before retirement.

Since Manning’s exit, the Giants have lacked stability at quarterback. There have been fleeting signs of progress, but the 2024 season was a disaster. What Daboll Must Do to Keep His Job

With the 2025 first-round selection of Jaxson Dart, Daboll finally has a chance to develop a quarterback in his own mold. Providing mentorship for Dart will be veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, who joins the Giants after a rocky stint in Pittsburgh. A former Super Bowl winner, Wilson brings experience and leadership to the locker room, potentially playing a key role in Dart’s growth.

Daboll, who took over as head coach in 2022 and earned NFL Coach of the Year honors after leading the team to the divisional round, hasn’t been able to replicate that early success. While not all of the Giants’ struggles fall on him, the pressure is clearly building.

The End of the Daniel Jones Era

Though Daboll didn’t draft Daniel Jones, he tried to develop him into the team’s long-term solution at quarterback. That effort ultimately fell short, and Jones was released—marking the end of a chapter filled with unmet expectations.

Still, there have been bright spots under Daboll’s leadership. Wide receiver Malik Nabers emerged as a star in his rookie season, becoming one of the NFL’s most electrifying playmakers.

Heading into 2025, the Giants have a promising core. With Nabers on offense, defensive standout Dexter Lawrence II anchoring the other side of the ball, and Jaxson Dart now under center, Daboll has the pieces to engineer a turnaround. But the road won’t be easy.

The NFC East remains one of the toughest divisions in football. The Philadelphia Eagles are still a powerhouse, the Washington Commanders exceeded expectations last season behind coach Dan Quinn and young quarterback Jayden Daniels, and the Dallas Cowboys, as always, enter the year with high hopes.
