Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen Facing Pressure Ahead of 2025 Season After Disastrous 2024 Campaign

After a miserable 3-14 finish last season, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are entering the 2025 NFL season with their jobs on the line.

And now, a bleak forecast for the team’s upcoming performance could push them even closer to the brink.

Bleacher Report Predicts Giants to Finish Last in NFC East

Moe Moton of Bleacher Report released his predictions for which teams will finish at the bottom of their divisions in 2025 — and he has the Giants landing in last place in the NFC East.

Despite the offseason acquisition of veteran quarterback Russell Wilson, Moton’s outlook doesn’t bode well for the Giants’ leadership. He noted that while Wilson has been a solid passer over the past two seasons — with 42 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and a 65% completion rate — the 10-time Pro Bowler, now 37, is no longer a game-changer. He may bring accuracy and deep-ball touch, but Moton believes Wilson lacks the explosiveness to carry a team in high-pressure moments.

While Wilson hasn’t completely fallen off, the Giants are up against division rivals with far more dynamic quarterbacks — such as Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels, and Dak Prescott — each capable of leading high-scoring offenses.

Rookie QB Jaxson Dart: A Potential X-Factor

The wildcard for the Giants could be rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart. If the former Ole Miss standout exceeds expectations and makes a quick transition to the NFL, he might shift the team’s trajectory. Daboll, who once helped Daniel Jones lead the Giants to a surprising playoff win in 2022, would need to replicate that magic with Dart — a tall order in what is shaping up to be a pivotal year.

What Must Happen for Daboll and Schoen to Keep Their Jobs?

Moton did offer a sliver of hope, noting that the Giants should at least be more competitive with Wilson under center. He also highlighted a promising group of skill players, including receivers Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan’Dale Robinson, as well as running backs Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr., who could form a productive backfield tandem.

If the offense shows growth — particularly if Dart makes strides — and the defense, anchored by Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, and Abdul Carter, evolves into a dominant unit, a playoff push might not be out of the question.

However, another season near the bottom of the standings likely won’t be tolerated. If the Giants don’t at least double their win total from 2024, it may very well mark the end of the Daboll-Schoen era in New York.
