As the New York Giants keep a close eye on rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart, excitement is high. Fans are hopeful that someday he’ll reach the legendary status of the franchise’s all-time greats.

Two quarterbacks stand above the rest in Giants lore: Phil Simms and Eli Manning. Yet, despite their accomplishments, neither has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

This became especially clear after Manning’s first-ballot snub in February. Even with two Super Bowl victories and multiple Super Bowl MVP awards, he fell short of Canton honors. Recently, Simms shared his thoughts on his own Hall of Fame chances during an appearance on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams.

“I don’t really dwell on it,” Simms said. “I don’t think I deserve to be in. Maybe if I hadn’t gotten injured during my career, things might’ve been different. I probably could have made more Pro Bowls if I’d played them, but I passed on some, so maybe that hurt my case.”

Simms ended his career with two Super Bowl titles and two Pro Bowl selections. His 33,462 passing yards and 199 touchdowns both rank second in Giants history, trailing only Manning.

He was once the runner-up for Offensive Rookie of the Year and even received some MVP consideration late in his career. However, like Manning, he rarely dominated consistently throughout his tenure.

“I’m not saying I don’t care,” Simms added. “But I don’t think I deserve it, and that’s fine. Winning those Super Bowls gave me something to be proud of.”

In East Rutherford, Simms remains a Giants legend—inducted into the team’s ring of honor and with his No. 11 jersey retired, a fact appreciated by the current star edge rusher. Though Canton may elude him, his Super Bowl triumphs have cemented his place forever in Giants history.
