Speaking after Thursday’s OTAs, Wilson shed light on his mentoring mindset. “I always share,” he told NJ.com’s Darryl Slater. “I believe in being vocal — explaining what I’m seeing and why. When you’re truly confident in yourself, there’s no need to withhold anything. That’s just how I’ve always operated.”

Not every veteran takes that approach. For example, Joe Flacco stirred controversy last year when he prioritized starting over mentoring younger QBs in Cleveland — a reflection of the self-preservation instinct common in ultra-competitive environments. But Wilson has embraced the leadership role in New York, fully aware that while he’s expected to start this season, Dart could be pushing for playing time before the year ends. Should Wilson perform well and keep the Giants in the playoff hunt, Dart’s debut could be delayed until 2026.

“I just focus on winning today,” Wilson said. “That’s always been my mindset. I want to be the best in the world, and that means staying locked into my process. I have confidence in what I do — and if I’m at my best, I know what I can bring. I don’t get caught up in the noise.”

It’s still too early to know how Wilson’s tenure with the Giants will play out. But if his influence helps shape Dart into a future star, his time in East Rutherford will be seen as a major success.
