Landon Duckworth’s Recruitment Still Heating Up as Gamecocks Make Final Push

Landon Duckworth, the highly touted four-star quarterback out of Jackson High School in Alabama, has had one of the most eventful recruitment journeys in his class. South Carolina initially secured his commitment back in August 2023, largely due to head coach Shane Beamer’s offensive vision. However, Duckworth reopened his recruitment in June 2024, drawing interest from top-tier programs like Ole Miss, Auburn, North Carolina, and Florida State.

As Duckworth prepares for an official visit to Columbia on June 6, the Gamecocks are going all-in to get him back on board. Despite his decommitment, South Carolina has remained relentless in its pursuit. Recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong noted that Beamer has “kept his foot on the gas” and still believes Duckworth is an ideal fit for the offense.

Duckworth’s junior season was outstanding—he passed for 3,439 yards and 39 touchdowns while adding 648 rushing yards and 12 scores on the ground. It’s no surprise he’s in high demand.

South Carolina is pitching its offensive line strength and attractive NIL opportunities as key reasons to return. Meanwhile, other contenders like Auburn—who hosted him on May 30—and Florida State—set for a June 13 visit—are aggressively making their cases.

Should the Gamecocks win back Duckworth, he could be a major piece in replacing former starter Spencer Rattler, now in the NFL, and elevating an offense that may not be fully confident in current QB LaNorris Sellers.

Though the battle isn’t over, and a recent visit to Auburn keeps things interesting, South Carolina insiders remain cautiously optimistic that Duckworth could circle back to the program that originally earned his trust.
