The Colts are dealing with uncertainty at quarterback after Anthony Richardson re-injured his shoulder during OTAs on June 5—an AC joint sprain that also hampered him during his rookie campaign. With Richardson sidelined for now, Jones is taking first-team reps.

Jones signed a one-year, $14 million deal with Indianapolis, and early signs out of minicamp are promising. Fowler said Jones was described as “very sharp” and is making a strong case during minicamp.

Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Mina Kimes noted the Colts are one of the few teams with a true quarterback competition this offseason. While Richardson was initially favored to start, Kimes now sees the odds tipping toward Jones—predicting a 65% chance Jones is the Week 1 starter.

In a recent interview with The New York Post, Jones addressed his departure from the Giants, saying there’s no bad blood. He acknowledged that it was difficult after putting so much effort into trying to succeed in New York.

“You put everything into it—your life, your energy, your focus—to win and to perform at a high level,” Jones said. “When it doesn’t go your way, of course it’s tough. But I’m not holding anything against anyone.”
