Future Track Stars? 4 Gamecocks Set to Chase Glory at USATF U20 Championships!

EUGENE, Ore. (June 18, 2025) – With the collegiate season wrapped up, South Carolina Track & Field shifts its focus to national competition at the USA Track & Field U20 Championships. The two-day event kicks off on Thursday, June 19, and concludes Friday, June 20, at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon — widely known as TrackTown USA.

The Gamecocks will be represented by four athletes: Joslyn Hamilton from the women’s team, and three men’s team freshmen — Devan Crumpton, Elijah Poore, and Josiah Wrice.

The trio of freshmen will be the first to compete. Both Wrice and Crumpton are entered in the 400m dash, with the preliminary round scheduled for Thursday at 6:59 p.m. (ET), and the final round set for Friday at 8:01 p.m. (ET). Poore will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Thursday evening at 8:47 p.m.

Wrice, a Second Team All-SEC honoree during the outdoor season, placed second in the 400m at the SEC Championships with a time of 45.40. He holds a personal best of 44.99, also recorded at SECs. Crumpton, who ranks seventh all-time in the program for the 400m with a PR of 45.74, contributed to South Carolina’s SEC scoring in the 4x400m relay and earned Third Team All-SEC honors during the indoor season. Poore posted the fifth-fastest steeplechase time in school history with a 9:08.11 at the SEC Outdoor Championship.

On the women’s side, Hamilton will compete in the 100m hurdles on Friday. The preliminary round begins at 7:32 p.m. (ET), with the final set for 8:55 p.m. (ET) later that evening. Hamilton, a standout freshman, qualified for the NCAA East Regionals with a 13.32 in the 100mH and finished seventh at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a time of 13.35.
