Jan Ullrich, the 1997 Tour de France winner, was arrested in 2018 for allegedly attacking an escort at a Frankfurt hotel ¹. According to police, Ullrich was under the influence of drugs and alcohol and could be charged with assault or attempted murder. This isn’t Ullrich’s first run-in with the law; he was also arrested earlier in 2018 after an incident at his neighbor’s property in Mallorca. Ullrich has been open about his personal struggles, including his separation from his partner and distance from his children. He has also been dogged by doping allegations throughout his career, admitting to blood-doping in 2013
